Originally opened as Jefferson St Deli in July 2017, Broome Street Burgers came into existence in July 2018. After hearing time and time again that the burgers and shakes were the best things on the menu, Amy Wriggle (Manager), and her father, Curtis Wriggle (Owner), decided that they should listen to what their customers wanted and focus on their best selling items. The original Jefferson St Deli in Monroe is still going strong under Curtis Wriggle, and now so is Broome St Burger in Waxhaw with Amy Wriggle. A combination of burgers, chicken, shrimp, fries, onion rings, tots, milkshakes, daily specials and much more, Broome St Burgers is expanding their hours to be open later so more people can enjoy their offerings for dinner.
The burgers at Broome St Burgers are all fresh, hand pattied 8 ounces of beef cooked to order. The top seller, the Apple Smoked Burger features an 8 oz patty, Applewood smoked bacon, white American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. “The bacon puts it over the top. It’s really thick cut bacon,” says Amy Wriggle. Just in case you aren’t in the mood for a burger, Broome Street Burgers also has fried and grilled chicken breast, turkey burgers, black bean burgers, and hot dogs. Their kids menu features a half sized (4 oz) burger patty, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, and a hot dog. They also offer a Gluten Free bun with any of their burgers.
Salads are a popular menu option and one of the hold over favorites from the original menu. “The Sunshine Salad is probably our most popular salad. It features oven roasted chicken breast, mandarin oranges, strawberries, feta, craisins, and candied walnuts with a homemade Balsamic Dressing developed by my dad,” Wriggle continued. “Curtis Wriggle is the chef behind many of the homemade sauces, dressings, and spreads. The homemade Broome sauce is similar to Thousand Island dressing but 20 times better! He also developed the French Onion spread, with caramelized onions, beer, brown sugar, beef stock, herbs and spices, which is featured on the French Onion Burger. It’s one of those secretly amazing things you don’t expect, but are so delighted to find.” And you can pair your burger with Magic Fries, crinkle cut fries with house seasoning, Magic Sweet Fries, or any of their other delicious sides.
But don’t forget that Broome Street Burgers is also here to tempt your sweet tooth with their homemade shakes and desserts. “The shakes are simple but amazing. They have the perfect balance of chocolate and real vanilla flavoring. We also make specials like Creamsicles, and Root Beer or Coke Floats. We’ll try to make what our customers request.” The dessert offerings include brownies and cookies as well as rotating specials such as peanut butter pie, lemon bars, banana pudding, or whatever else can be dreamed up.
If you need an order To Go, just call them directly and they will have it ready to pick up when you arrive. They also offer limited delivery to local businesses, with a minimum purchase. Broome Street Burgers is registered with DoorDash (www.doordash.com) and will soon be available with UberEats (www.ubereats.com) too.
