Flour Power, in Charlotte Quail Corners, is a cooking studio designed to teach children and adults cooking techniques and recipes.  Specializing in Kids Cooking Classes, Birthday Parties, Etiquette Classes, Adult Sip n’ Stir Events, Corporate Team Building, Kids Night Out, Field Trips, Summer Camps, Teacher Workday Camps, Holiday Camps, and Private Events, Flour Power can help anybody learn to cook.

Originally opened in September 2013, Ginger Cason, Studio Owner/Operator of Flour Power in Charlotte Quail Corners, purchased the studio from Franchise Founder, Susan Caldwell, in October 2016.  Believing that children learn through hands-on experiences, Flour Power focuses recipes based on participant’s ages and abilities.  Starting at two and a half years old, children will learn cooking basics such as following sequential directions, preparing food through teamwork, and proper cooking techniques.  Children under 12 use safety knives, and all children learn with a focus on proper cutting technique.

“Pizza, Spaghetti Pie, Quinoa Salad, Soups, Appetizers, Quiche, French Crème Puffs, Cookies, Meatloaf, Macaroni and Cheese are some of our most popular recipes.  We have a very extensive list of recipes and themes, and schedule classes based on different types of themes,” Cason explains.  While there are rarely any leftovers,  Flour Power isn’t a commercial kitchen so no leftovers can be taken home.  But participants do get to go home with a copy of the recipe and the knowledge of how to make the dish.  Cason is able to work to accommodate most allergies.  “We are a nut-free facility.  We work with parents directly to be sure that we are using safe substitutions.”

Cason and her staff also work together to provide proper oversight during events.  “We have two instructors working with each kitchen for birthday parties, usually about 12 kids in each kitchen.  And three instructors for each kitchen for summer camps, approximately 20 kids.”  Each of the events is organized around a theme and participants abilities.  Themes include: “Flipping for Turnovers” featuring recipes for Sweet Cherry Turnovers and Savory Chili Cheese Turnovers; “A Can and A Plan” featuring recipes that turn basic pantry staples into delicious meals; and “Space Party” including Galaxy Pancakes and Intergalactic Cookies.  Signing up is simple.  Call the store directly or a full list of classes and options are also available online.
