The hair care industry has changed a lot over the past 25 years. That’s why Creative Hair Designers and Stylists, Lusine Ivanova and Ani Mouradkhanian, are so focused on continuing their education and further expanding their knowledge in the hair care industry. They want to stay current in order to pass along the latest trends to their clientele.
Although they are proud of the fact that Lulu Salon is a family owned, small business, there is nothing small about the amount of experience Lusine and Ani have. Lusine has been trained in both Europe and America, graduating from hairstyling school in Germany in 1993 as well as The Aveda Institute of Charlotte in 2013. Ani also graduated from the Aveda Institute of Charlotte, and combined, they have thirty years of experience in the hair styling Industry.
Bringing Aveda to Waxhaw
Having worked at other Aveda partner salons, Lusine and Ani wanted to bring an Aveda store closer to Waxhaw. While Aveda is popular in the Charlotte area, the closest store location to Waxhaw was Blakeney. Lusine and Ani saw a niche to fill in the Waxhaw area.
They believe in the Aveda brand and are proud of the fact their products are 97% natural. Lusine and Ani share the values of the Aveda mission statement, which says, “Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility. Not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.”

Lulu Salon Offers Personal Service
Another thing that Lusine and Ani believe makes Lulu Salon different is the fact it is a small, personal service salon. Many salons that are associated with a national name like Aveda are large. But at Lulu, Lusine and Ani are the entire staff.
Their goal is to make everyone feel like they have received individual treatment. Lusine and Ani love seeing reviews on their Facebook page, such as one by Leigh Cushing, that said, “I was treated with respect and received great advice on my hair.” Other things they focus on are artistry and attention to detail.
And Salon Lulu is a Unisex salon-it’s not just for the ladies. The entire family can come and have their needs taken care of. Basic haircuts for men, women, and children range from $21.00 and up for kids to $45.00 and up for women.
Besides cuts, other services offered are shampooing, styling, coloring, and toning or glossing. More color options include highlighting, color melting, ombre, balayage, and painting. Customers can also get keratin treatments and threading, which is an alternative to waxing.
Salon Lulu is located at 318 E South Main Street #F in Waxhaw. They had their grand opening on November 17th. Salon Lulu is closed on Sunday and Monday. Regular hours are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday.
