The Porter’s House Offers Modern Chophouse Concept in Heart of Waverly

Self-coined, “a modern chophouse for the New South”, The Porter’s House prides itself on delectable, high-end cuisine, married with Southern soul and hospitality.  As the fourth restaurant concept from Dressler’s and Dogwood Southern Table and Bar Owners Kim and Jon Dressler, The Porter’s House opened in February 2016 to a warm reception from the Tri-W market and beyond.

Situated in the prime Waverly location, it’s no surprise that The Porter’s House is known for their famed 22-ounce porter house steak.  Additionally, for an experience like no other, diners can order the 36-ounce steak that is cut at your table, with sharing encouraged!  The latter is a reoccurring theme within The Porter’s House, where the menu is set up to be enjoyed family-style, with a heavy focus on appetizers and a la carte sides.  Included in those sides are the rich and savory duck fat fingerling potatoes, as well as the lobster mac ‘n cheese.

The restaurant’s bar is also noteworthy, with the bar manager eager to get as creative in his concoctions as the clientele will allow!  Take, for example, The Porter’s House Cocktail – a unique blend of larceny bourbon, honey figs, burnt oranges, barreled bitters and all spice.  “For this side of town, it’s a unique and different cocktail menu that’s pushing the boundaries,” remarked Manager Ellis Lindsay.

Furthermore, their Coravin program, utilizes the unique coravin tool to pour a glass of wine without actually pulling the cork and oxidizing the bottle.  This allows customers to try an exceptionally high-quality bottle of wine without the typically unattainable price tag.

Currently, they are open for dinner, seven nights awake from 4pm-9pm on weekdays and until 10pm on Friday and Saturday.  Get there from 4-6pm, and take advantage of their happy hour specials!  Reservations, particularly on the weekends, are recommended via OpenTable or at the hostess desk.

Lindsay adds, “We want to create a place where people want to sit around a table together and enjoy each other’s company.”  And with an ample dining area, plus the 8-seater, private Whiskey Room where customers can customize their own dining experience if so desired, that’s exactly what Porter’s House has achieved.
