Before your home goes on the market, consider how it looks from the road. Curb appeal is a very important aspect of how your home is perceived by potential buyers. Some buyers won’t even step into your home if they don’t think the property has been properly maintained on the outside.
Here are some easy and affordable ways to improve the look of your home from the curb:
Clean your windows on the inside and outside, making sure that there are no visible cobwebs. Mow your lawn (including edges) and keep it well trimmed at all times. Prune the bushes, plant fresh flowers and add new mulch to your landscape beds. Power-wash the exterior of your home, (including the driveway) and put a fresh coat of paint on the trim, the doors and the shutters. Clean your gutters and downspouts. Repaint or replace your door knobs, mailbox and any faded outdoor light fixtures. Make sure your outdoor lighting is working properly and replace any burned out light bulbs.
The way your home is maintained on the outside tells potential buyers the way your home has been maintained on the inside. Homes that have tidy yards, nice landscaping and a fresh coat of paint usually have tidy kitchens and bathrooms, clean carpets and a fresh coat of paint on the walls!
Good luck and have fun!
