This weeks “Featured Player of the Week” for his third nomination this season goes to Sun Valley QB Sam Howell.  Every time Howell walks on to the football field he has a great opportunity to be selected for this honor.

In a huge Southern Carolina Conference game against the Monroe Redhawks the senior quarterback came to play and shine on the gridiron.  Howell led his team with composure and determination to overcome a solid Redhawk defense and outscore a good offensive football team who needed to win.

Howell connected on three touchdown passes and rushed for another score on a 19 yard quarterback keeper.  He completed a 90 yard pass and catch reception to Isiah Hall including a TD pass in the back of the end zone on a perfectly thrown ball.  He also connected on a 14 yard pass to Gavin Blackwell.

This weeks statistics have not been updated as of this writing, however, in the previous seven games Howell leads all quarterbacks with 1836 yards passing on 103/172 attempts, averaging 17.8 yards per reception, 262.3 yards per game, 23 TD’s with a QB rating of 123.9.  Adding this weeks 4 TD’s he now has 27 for the season threw the air.

In the running game he is among the top five rushing leaders with 8 TD’s, 762 yards gained, four games of 100 plus or more yards on the ground while averaging 8.8 yards per carry.  He has accumulated 2598 yards or 371.1 all-purpose offensive yards per game.

Congratulations to Sam Howell!
