Happy Trails

WAXHAW, NC – As a child growing up in eastern NC, I rode many trails on my pony with my dogs following closely behind. Today, walking trails take me to a peaceful and happy place away from the everyday rush of life.

We’re lucky here in NC because we have easy access to an extensive number of trails that offer a wide variety of outdoor experiences. The Carolina Thread Trail is a regional network of trails that connect 15 counties in North and South Carolina. A number of them are in our immediate area.

Mineral Springs Greenway is a 3.5 mile natural surface trail located near Waxhaw featuring a river and is rated as moderate. It offers a number of activity options, including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. It follows the Wolf and Bates Branches streams and has plenty of wildlife. For information on access visit https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/north-carolina/mineral-springs-greenway

The Waxhaw segment of the 12 Mile Greenway is a 1.4 mile trail made up of a .8 mile section in the Millbridge neighborhood and a .6 mile segment in the Town Creek Park. This section is a paved greenway winding through green space along the creek. It connects to H.C. Nesbit Park where parking for the trail is located.

For venturing out of the immediate area, check the Carolina Thread Trail website for locations all over the state. For more information about this or other special places in this area, reach out to Jamie Leggett at jamie@jamieandcorealestate.com or (704) 650-6345.
