High Heels And Foot Pain

CHARLOTTE – Yikes! I used to love to wear a pair of heels when I was younger in the corporate workforce. I’d wear them everyday with no issue. Now, not so much. I don’t have to wear them as often and when I do it’s for very short periods of time.

Flashback to last week when I wore a pair of beautiful suede heels for 3 hours. That night I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible cramp in the arch of my foot. I rubbed it, walked on it, prayed about it, but each time I tried to take the pressure off the middle of my foot and stretch out to hopefully fall asleep, that cramp would grab me again as if it were a hungry wolf grabbing it’s prey.

Finally, after the pain was too intense, I carefully took my foot in my hands and kneaded the bottom of it, from the ball to the heel. I stretched the foot and singled out each muscle in order to strip them. I then massaged the top of my foot and again stretched it in all directions. Finally, I felt some relief.

Why? When you wear heels you are putting a tremendous amount of pressure and strain on the ball of your foot and the arch. This pulls all the weight forward and causes your toes to absorb all the weight.

Heels are beautiful, but if you keep wearing them, at some point you’ll be coming to see me.
