Tyler Reddick a 21-year old part time driver this season for Chip Ganassi Racing won big on Saturday when he defeated teammate Brennan Poole by 14.540 seconds to take home the trophy in the 200 lap race.

Reddick has raced in 14 XFINITY Series events in 2017 finishing in the top ten three times previously until yesterday in Kentucky.  This victory is his first XFINITY Series win and it could not have come at a better moment for the young driver.

He gave all the credit to the team at Chip Ganassi Racing who have mentored and guided him throughout every race he has participated in this season.

The average speed of the race winner for the event was 151.728 mph.   There were 3 caution flags totaling 14 laps, along with 8 lead changes among 5 drivers during the race.

Kentucky was the first of seven scheduled XFINITY Series Playoff races this season.  William Byron who won the regular season and started the day just 2 points over Justin Allgaier, did not have a good day finishing in a disappointing 18th place on Saturday.

However, for Chip Ganassi Racing it was not only a memorable day for Reddick, but a tremendous day for the team.  Brennan Poole who finished second is part of the Ganassi Racing team, so this is the first time the team raced past the checkered flag 1-2 in XFINITY Series competition.  Ironically, they probably had the two fastest cars in the race.

The top 10 finishers at Kentucky Speedway after Reddick and Poole were Justin Allgaier in third place, Ryan Preece fourth, Cole Custer fifth, Elliott Sadler sixth, Daniel Hermic seventh, Brian Scott eighth, Matt Tift ninth and Ryan Reed in tenth position.

Next week the XFINITY Playoff Series will move on to Dover International Speedway for the running of “The Drive Sober 200” in Delaware.  All the action will begin on Saturday September 30th at 3:00 pm eastern time.
