Weekly Column: Skin Sense
When was the last time you had a private conversation with yourself; an opportunity to hear your own voice and be ok with your thoughts…
Especially for women, something happens in our 30’s or 40’s. It’s the first hint of fine lines or a recess of skin that even when we twitch, it simply won’t go away. This may be around the eyes or lips…and we wonder, where did that come from? As the years pass, nature continues to evolve. Skin may become dry or oily – a change from just a few years ago.
Isn’t it funny how our eyes almost instinctively focus on the little lines, which we may privately think of as “imperfections?”
During our mid-twenties, collagen production begins to decrease. Skin changes which were once barely noticeable, become more visible and yes, this is based on our genetic make-up and influenced by our environment. Regardless of the cause, it is key to address deficiencies in our skin care regime.
Fortify and nourish your skin by hydrating throughout the day. Increase water intake and supplement by using wholesome topical products to balance the skin’s pH and moisture levels. Seek out products that are free of known toxins, cruelty free, and alcohol free; as they may create inflammation and premature aging of the skin. This short list can help to get you started.
At Jon’Ric Matthews, we realize the seasons of life are reflected in the skin we wear…but let’s age gracefully together! This doesn’t have to be a private conversation! Have a cup of tea and join the conversation. We’re excited about ways to supplement thirsty skin.
