brüks bars were created in August 2013 by the husband and wife team of Sean and Brooke Muldoon, of Charlotte, NC, along with their business partner, Pete Smith. brüks bars makes all whole ingredient based snack bars that are gluten/dairy/egg/soy free and made with real food ingredients. They are allergy friendly as well as delicious. They currently offer four flavors: Apple Pecan, Apricot Chocolate, Cherry Espresso, and Original (a sweet and savory bar with natural peanut butter) which are available for sale at Provisions Waxhaw. They believe that healthy can and should taste good!
brüks bars got their name as a play on Brooke’s name. Brooke explains “It is the Cuban pronunciation of Brooke but bruk (with an “u” as in “uber”) it isn’t a real word so we could associate it with what we wanted to associated it with.” The idea for the bars came from Sean’s food intolerances to gluten/dairy/egg/soy and his desire to find a healthy, clean nutrient dense snack that tasted good and would fit within his diet. The Muldoon’s decided to start making them on their own and soon Pete, a longtime family friend, joined them.
The bars have been for sale in Provisions Waxhaw for a couple of years and Provisions was one of their original clients. Brooke explains, “Local markets like Provisions have been the lifeblood of our business. We started with no experience in the food industry and had just switched from home kitchen to professional kitchen space when they picked us up.” They have a special fondness for boutique stores since that is where they started and are the ones that have helped them grow.
