Provisions Waxhaw Vendor Spotlight – Penny Family Farm

The Penny Family Farm is a small 12 acre farm in Catawba, SC off of Route 5. They raise chicken, eggs, pork, and beef. All of the products are Non-GMO, soy free, and pasture raised, and all of the beef is grass fed and grass finished. They currently supply Provisions Waxhaw an array of products including eggs, chicken, and pork and hopefully will be providing beef and other products later this year.

Chris and April Penny started the farm as a way to get their two boys out of the suburbs and teach them the importance of where their food comes from. They were asked so often by friends and old neighbors if they were going to be selling products, that they decided to make a business out of it. Now a stay at home Dad, Chris homeschools their sons as well as manages the farm. He met Lisa Vigil and Ken Posko when he stopped into Provisions one day and started chatting to them about his farm. It was a natural fit for all of them. And working with Provisions Waxhaw has allowed the Penny Family Farm to expand their business while helping to support and feed the local community.

The Penny’s always encourage visitors at the farm and want people to learn where their food is raised and how it is treated. They are Non-GMO and soy free because it was economical as well as allows people with allergies to enjoy their products and they stress quality over quantity.
