Brian Malone and Kelly Mitchell, of Charlotte, NC, own Southern Pierogi Company. Pierogi are dumplings filled with cheese and potato. Creating handcrafted gourmet pierogi that are flash frozen to preserve freshness, Southern Pierogi started in 2016. Malone explains, “We both relocated to Charlotte about 10 years ago. For a decade, we have been creating and sharing recipes. Kelly grew up making pierogi with her grandmother in Detroit, MI. We began making them together for friends and family, experimenting and trying different flavor combinations. We realized there was a need for pierogi in the Charlotte area. There are many transplants that miss that taste of home. We are so happy to share our passion for pierogi with everyone!“ Now you can pick up your frozen pierogi at Waxhaw anytime the craving hits at Provisions Waxhaw!

Malone and Mitchell met Ken Posko and Lisa Vigil, owners of Provisions Waxhaw, after Southern Pierogi joined the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market. In September of 2016, Provisions Waxhaw invited Southern Pierogi to join their growing ranks of locally-made products. Malone says, “The response to our product at Provisions has been great. It’s given us the opportunity to reach more customers, especially those who have never heard of or tried a pierogi before. Working with Provisions Waxhaw has allowed us to network with other small local businesses.” Malone goes on to say, “Provisions Waxhaw is a wonderful place. Lisa and Ken have created a family atmosphere and strong sense of community in their shop and we’re fortunate to be a part of it.”
