Back to School…and Home School

Back to school

Waxhaw, NC – 2020 has been a challenging year, to say the least.

Now, Union County Public Schools and other school systems throughout the Carolinas and beyond are preparing to resume the education of our children, albeit in an unconventional way.

As of this writing, UCPS is offering parents and students the option of attending school in person for one day a week and participating in remote learning the other four days.  Or doing remote learning all five days of the week.

Either way, students are going to be spending a lot more time at home than they normally would during the school year.

“Home” School

This is a challenge to working parents, for sure.  Even those who are currently working at home.

So, as I wish the best of luck to those students returning to school this Fall, I also wish the best of luck to the parents of those students returning to school this Fall.

As a Realtor, I work closely with individuals and families of all descriptions and varying makeups and needs on a daily basis.

New Housing Trends

This year has been the first time I’ve worked with so many families in which considerations need to be made, not only for home offices for the parents but for the children, as well!

Home offices have jumped up the charts in terms of ranking desired features in a home and I expect that to be reflected in future home design.

Also, while openness from the kitchen to the great room is still en vogue, the separation between other parts of the house, which was huge in the 1970s and 1980s construction, seems to be regaining popularity, too.

Good Luck!

Here’s wishing everyone an extra dose of patience and hoping that we can get back to a sense of normalcy sooner rather than later, and in a way that is safe for everyone in our community.

Best of luck – teachers, administrators, students, and parents – in the new school year!
