Brunchy Wines & Brews

Easter Sunday brunch has always been a favorite holiday meal of mine. Brunch is one of the easiest ways to entertain. It’s a perfect meal for not only Easter but Mother’s Day, birthday’s, special weekend events or just because! Many recipes can be made in advance and a lot of them are fail proof, giving you more time to spend with friends and family. This week, I took a moment to make a few pairing suggestions for your celebratory meal. Choose your main dish below and pair away!

Croissants & Sweet Breads
Wine Pairing – Champagne
Beer Pairing – Sour Ale, Dark Stout

Bacon
Wine Pairing – Rosé, Sparkling Wine
Beer Pairing – IPA

Steak
Wine Pairing – Merlot
Beer Pairing – Try a Michelada beer cocktail. Visit www.bonappetit.com and search for the Spanish traditional recipe.

Ham
Wine Pairing – Riesling, Rosé, Grenache
Beer Pairing -Pilsner, Brown Ale

Rack of Lamb
Wine Pairing – Syrah, Pinot Noir
Beer Pairing – Pale Ale

Sausage
Wine Pairing – Un-Oaked Chardonnay
Beer Pairing – Hefeweizen, Stout

French Toast or Pancakes
Wine Pairing – Italian Prosecco, or German Riesling
Beer Pairing – Milk and Oatmeal Stouts
Egg Dishes
Eggs are challenging to pair as the flavor is mild and the other ingredients in your dish tend to take over. You may want to pair with the type of meat, herbs or spices in your dish. Otherwise, try the following:

Wine Pairing – German Riesling for mild dishes. Sauvignon Blanc for stronger flavors.
Beer Pairing – Citrus Belgian Witbier, Gose (a mildly tart wheat beer).

Last but not least, let’s not leave out the coffee stouts and porters! Because what’s breakfast or brunch without coffee? Bonus – you may even get a bit of a caffeine kick from it!

Enjoy your Easter holiday. He is risen!

Cheers!
