Welcome to the future! If you’re like me, you have long envisioned the year 2020 as some far off, distant time.
In my vision of 2020, we drive flying cars, robots vacuum for us, and we talk to each other on huge flat-screen TVs like the Jetsons. Well, two out of three ain’t bad! Flying cars will be here by 2050, for sure.
I don’t know about you, but twenty years ago today, having recently survived Y2K, I was preparing for my final semester at college and I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I enjoyed writing then, as I do now, and I enjoyed helping others and getting to know people, as I do now. It is only fitting that I eventually found my way to a career in real estate and decided to write about it.
One of the things I enjoy most about working in real estate is that no two real estate practices are the same. And by that, I mean that no two real estate professionals practice the same way.
Sure, there are guidelines we all must follow, but as a realtor, I am free to run my business as I see fit.
I can be a solo-preneur, handling everything myself. I can be a team leader, generating business for myself and other agents and mentoring those working alongside me. If I want the liability and overhead, I can hang my own shingle and own a firm.
I can choose to market however I want, just as long as it’s ethical, non-discriminatory, and I identify the firm I am affiliated with. Shoutout to Costello Real Estate & Investments!
Finally, I can work as much – or as little – as I want to, I can focus on the aspects of the business that I am best at and that drive revenue, and I can outsource administrative tasks and just about any other task that frees me up to focus on what’s most important.
With that said, welcome to the year 2020. The future is now. In fact, it got here yesterday and I don’t see it going away anytime soon.
Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere either, so get used to seeing more of me. In your inbox, on social media, and around town, if you live in the Waxhaw/Indian Land/South Charlotte areas.
I’m currently in the midst of developing a simple, attractive, and user-friendly website that’s about more than just real estate. I’m beefing up my YouTube presence by sharing ins and outs of real estate and interviewing local business owners as I did with Waxhaw Business Minute in 2019.
And I’m committed to connecting with you more frequently and more intentionally through a (mostly) weekly newsletter directly into your inbox, on the phone, and in person.
Text GRAPPONEREALTOR to 22828 to subscribe to my newsletter.
If you decide you’re not interested in receiving emails from me, there’s an unsubscribe button at the bottom of each one. But if you enjoy the content, write back to let me know or to suggest a topic you’d like me to cover in the future… you know, the future-future.
Happy New Year and New Decade. It’s going to be one for the e-books, or whatever device we read on… in the future!
