Should you Join a Virtual Room?

It should come as no surprise that chat and video features are soaring in popularity right now. Facebook is upping its game for video chatting and introduced Rooms this week.

Not to be confused with Zoom…an app and website that offers video conferencing, Facebook’s Rooms is built right into the platform, there’s no need to sign up, it’s free and unlimited, as in there are no time limits on how long you can chat.

When Rooms becomes available, you will see it in your messenger app, there will be an option to create a room and invite friends to it. Up to 50 people can chat in a room at a time.

What about security?

Zoom has been in the news recently for security issues, with hackers being able to jump into calls. However, they have put out updates to help fix the issues. Facebook boasts that they will be tighter on security, but as usual with the social media giant, privacy concerns from within the platform should be considered.

There are many options when it comes to video chatting now and all of them have grown with the recent health crisis keeping most people at home the majority of the time. Pick the one that you feel most comfortable with and connect with your friends and loved ones.
