Connection in the time of COVID-19: social media.
Humans are social creatures and are hard-wired to connect with one another.
The current health crisis has put quite the damper on connecting with anyone outside our home or from more than six feet away.
Thankfully, we live in a time when we can communicate through technology and social media is the perfect way to do it.
To get the most out of social media during this isolating time, break out of your comfort zone of just posting, liking and commenting and venture into all the features many platforms have to offer.
Almost every social media platform has a live video option and an option to video chat with a group! You don’t have to know what Zoom or Skype is to have a group video chat, all you need is Facebook Messenger.
Going live is also a great way to show your friends and family how you’re doing, how the dog or cat is doing and that you’re ok. Plus, almost everyone loves video and you’ll likely find you like making them too!
If you’re feeling very adventurous check out a whole new platform like Instagram or one that’s mostly based on video like Snapchat.
A connection is going to be how we all get through this trying time and since we can’t connect in person we must make more of an effort to reach out in the way we can. Social media is a great tool for this crazy time we find ourselves in.
