What changes are coming to social media this year?
Here are my predictions:
Stories will become more popular.
Now that Facebook also has the stories feature from Instagram (who copied it from Snapchat) people will start using them more regularly and they will become the popular way to share updates.
Shopping on social media platforms will grow.
Instagram allows users to click on items in a post or story and buy it right there, and now Snapchat has partnered with Amazon to offer a similar feature. This will be a growing trend and social media ads will start focusing on having the customer buy directly on the ad rather than direct them to a website. This will be great for social media and showing the return on investment for social media ads.
Listening will be key.
Voice marketing will become more important as the number of smart devices with assistants like Alexa, Siri and Google increase. Those devices primarily use voice, so video, images, and writing cannot be used on most of them. Just when we thought radio advertising was dead, it will get an overhaul and move to your smart device.
