Your comfort system can help reduce allergies

Have you ever noticed that there is constantly a layer of dust on the surfaces in our house? No matter how often you dust, it just re-appears. You keep your house clean, you keep doors and windows closed, and still the dust just keeps appearing. If you do not have sufficient filtration on your HVAC system it can actually be sucking dust from outside into your house. This could be contributing towards your allergies. The system that you had installed to help improve air quality is actually causing air quality issues. So, should you blame the company that installed the system? Well, not really. This is a serious problem that has a really simple solution. There are things you can do to relieve these symptoms

Four things you can do to keep the air in your house cleaner:

  • Replace filters regularly (you don’t need a technician to change these filters. It is easy enough to do it yourself.) Fortunately these filters are cheap and easy to replace.
  • Improve the quality of your filters. It is tempting to buy the cheapest filters, but consider that you get what you pay for
  • Get your ducting cleaned. This does not need to be done as often as servicing. You can check if your ducts need cleaning by removing the grid and shining a light down the duct. If you see a layer of dust stuck to the walls of the duct it is time to call the duct cleaning company.
  • Consider investing in an electronic filtration system.

The filters on your HVAC system is important. It is often times not the Air conditioning system that is causing the problem, but the filters.
