On Friday, January 17, 2020, the Union County Crime Stoppers (UCCS) will be holding its 28th annual fundraising BBQ with presenting sponsor Hendrick Chevrolet Cadillac Monroe. Serving up heaping platters of pork or turkey alongside all of the fixin’s for $10 a plate, the money raised will help to pay for rewards called into the tip line. It’s all happening at the Union County Agricultural Center, 3230 Presson Road, Monroe, NC 28112 from 11 am to 6:30 pm. If you order 10 or more plates, the UCCS will deliver to your office (local limits apply)!

Dylan Hales, Board Member of UC Crime Stoppers, spills the beans on what’s on the agenda. “We do have events going on throughout the day. A few local politicians (Dan Bishop and Todd Johnson) will make special appearances. Miss NC Alexandra Badgett will be there. We’ll have a special ceremony to honor our Officer of the Year and 8 local WW2 veterans. Music will be provided by the Village Greene Band and Southern Express.”

The BBQ is being prepared by Ray Cook, Tony Cook, Ronnie Cook, and Aaron Cook while the sides are made by local businesses. A local store has also donated desserts, which can be added to your plate for an additional donation. Everything being used for the BBQ has been donated, which allows all of the proceeds to go directly to rewards.

Founded in 1981 by Dr. Paul Helms, UC Crime Stoppers meets every the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 am at Hilltop Fish Fare and Steakhouse and local residents are welcome to attend. More information, including how to report tips, can be found at www.uccrimestoppers.com
