WAXHAW, NC – On July 16, Forest Hill Church once again hosted the 2nd Annual Serve Waxhaw Day.  This event brought local non-profits and the community together to learn how they can help support each other.  Ulunda Baker, event organizer, explained, “The event was able to provide many people with contacts for resources, bags of clothes, and educational bags for kids. There were bounce houses, free Kona Ice, and Arty the Clown on-site for kids and families.”

“Despite the heat, turnout was great!” Baker continued. “Several community resource organizations were onsite and available to serve people from all corners of Union County. People from all over Union County were able to come out and connect with Community Service organizations that offered food, education, family, doula services, pregnancy help, free clothing and more.”

Serve Unity Outreach would like to thank the sponsors that helped make this event possible: Town of Waxhaw, Forest Hill Waxhaw Church, Bundle of His, and Rinehart Realty Waxhaw.

Baker concluded, “The founders of Serve Unity Outreach, Richard and Ulunda Baker, would like to personally thank Mayor Ron Pappas, Brenda McMillon, and Dena Sabinske from the Town of Waxhaw for coming out on a Saturday and connecting with us. The most touching moment of the day was seeing our Town leaders take time out on a Saturday to be available to connect with members of the community even after they work so hard all week to make Waxhaw a place for all to live, work, play and even serve!”
