New show, old merchandise, all fun!
A celebration of all things old and collectible, the first annual Monroe Antiques Festival is coming to the countryside of Union County on Saturday, October 26, 2019. More than 20 seasoned antique dealers from across the region will gather at a 15-acre estate on Lawyers Road for an old-fashioned antiques and collectibles show.
“I’ve been waiting for someone to organize a real antique and collectibles show in Union or Mecklenburg County since Metrolina Expo closed in the summer of 2016, said Monroe Antiques Festival promoter Shawn Spohn. “My mom and I enjoy antiquing together and we decided it was time to host our own show as the area seemed primed for it.”
The event, held at 4402 East Lawyers Road in Monroe, is the only antique and collectibles show currently held in Union County and the closest show for Mecklenburg County residents as well. Vendors will offer a wide variety of older merchandise including art, collectibles, home décor, furniture, toys and advertising items, glassware, primitive artifacts and general store merchandise.
“I tell my friends all the time, the reason I love hunting antiques is you never know what you might find, said Spohn. “You can go shopping at the big box stores or the mall and buy boring stuff like everyone else, or you can shop an antiques market and buy something you’ve never seen and no one else has.”
The one-day event is held October 26, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., open to the public and free to attend. 4402 East Lawyers Road is located halfway between Piedmont High School and Wingate University.
