What’s better than ice cream? More ice cream!

Waxhaw residents are in for a treat this year as the beloved town favorite, the Waxhaw Creamery, aims to offer exactly that!

With plans to expand their reach beyond the walls of their 201 S. Main St location in downtown Waxhaw, the delicious frozen confectionary is looking to appear this year at a variety of festivals, events, and private parties.

The Creamery is able to supply ice cream and ice cream cake extravaganzas for crowds ranging from small to substantial, and is committed to the highest customer service, and most superior product offering no matter the location.

Being serious about deliciousness is heart of this growing business, and the shop’s recipie philosophy reflects their drive to provide their customers with the best in ice cream.

Rich Giest, owner of the Creamery along with his wife, Jane, says “The biggest thing we always say and believe is that we use the best ingredients in our flavors. When we get the flavor right, we stay with it.” This truth is evident as soon as one walks into the parlor, where they are greeted by an enticing spread of ice cream flavors, each separate vat overflowing with generous portions of add-ins to their flavor bases.

With no shortage of choices, 24 ice cream flavors are on tap at any given time in the parlor, and around 40 different flavors are offered over the course of the year.

In keeping with the changing palates of patrons, as the weather waxes and wains through the year, the flavors also cycle. For example, currently cookie loves can find Thin Mint Cookie calling their name from behind the glass display case. Summer brings bright and refreshing notes of Peach, Blueberry Muffin, and Raspberry Lemonade. The brisk winds of fall carrie cozy flavors like Caramel Apple, Maple Bacon (Fall Festival weekend only) and Pumpkin into the store, and the holidays don’t disappoint with a taste of Candy Cane and Eggnog. The flavor team behind these incredible concoctions is alway looking for suggestions for new tastes to tantalize their guests’ tongues. Would you like to see something offered at the shop? Suggest it!

With all these delectable offerings, it’s no surprise that our own little ice cream shop was recently recognized as one of Charlotte’s best ice cream shops in the August edition of Charlotte Magazine, and well as named Best Ice Cream by Hula Frog! The Giets, however, choose to focus on how “rewarding it is to see the response from the community [to their shop].” They love watching the kids come in and get so excited over their products, and find their popularity “humbling”.

The Creamery is open Sunday to Thursday 12 PM- 9 PM, and Fridays and Saturday 12PM-10PM. They are closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Stop in and treat your tongue, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for them at local festivals and events!
