CHARLOTTE – Spring is finally here, and that means it’s time to get outside again. Although outdoor time may have to include overdue yardwork, spring cleaning garage sales, and delayed home improvements, it should also include walks in the park, backyard barbeques, and neighborhood block parties. To infuse a unique and festive edge into every spring celebration, reach out to Charlene Wagner of Carolina Taps.

Carolina Taps is a bar that operates out of a renovated 1960s Shasta camper. This means it is fully mobile, making it a great photo prop. “Oh, yeah, we’re totally Instagram-able!” laughs owner, Charlene Wagner. “We provide a great backdrop for outdoor parties, and we’re small enough to fit an indoor space, too.” This feature has allowed Carolina Taps to serve at larger occasions such as weddings and corporate events, as well as birthdays and neighborhood parties.
Accessibility is not the only reason Carolina Taps should be the first call a party planner makes. They also create completely original, themed cocktails for their clients. “Nobody will get anything better than us,” Wagner explains. “We use fresh-pressed juices, nothing quick or store-bought. I even make my own simple syrup.”

Wagner’s passion for her craft touches every aspect of her business. “I love it when there’s a theme! I’ve made drinks to match classic themes like Oktoberfest, St. Patrick’s Day, and New Year’s; however, I’ve also made completely unique cocktails for unusual themes such as Super Mario or Happy Campers. When we serve at weddings, we love to offer ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ cocktails that match the personalities of the bride and groom. It’s great to use my creativity to give each client just the right touch for their event.”

Carolina Taps highlights customization to make the design elements of a menu one-of-a-kind. From font, feel, and color scheme, to decoration, props, and drinks, each piece has the client’s unique “signature” on it. Wagner says this is her favorite part of the business. “I love to create a more intimate drinking experience,” she says. “Each event becomes a collaboration and every client we have turns into a friend. Instead of someone just slinging drinks all night, when Carolina Taps comes to your event, we provide a memorable statement piece.”
With four taps available, Carolina Taps also provides variety. “Our relationship is with the client, not the supplier, so we can serve anything they want on tap, including hard ciders or seltzers. If a client doesn’t have a specific brand in mind, we can suggest a wide range. It also allows us to give a party a bit of extra flair without waste to the world or the wallet,” Wagner smiles.

Wagner hopes customers will give her a call when they’re planning their next event. “We love to serve our local community by listening well, communicating well and executing well. An outdoor party is a low pressure but meaningful way to interact with neighbors. Carolina Taps knows it can help friends and families to get to know the people around them a little bit better.”
