WAXHAW, NC – CES Cares, the social impact division of City Electric Supply (CES), and Mary O’Neill’s recently teamed up to provide 375 sandwiches to the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte.  Urban Ministries Center is an interfaith organization that is committed to supporting others in Charlotte, NC and operates Operation Sandwich which provides sandwiches to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.  These Waxhaw based businesses were able to team up to create, package, and deliver ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on June 4, 2020.  Blair Feidler – Vice President of Operations, Gary Tubbs – District Manager, Connor Raines – Outside Sales Representative, and Shawn Odom – Branch Manager, picked up the sandwiches from the restaurant and took them uptown.  “We were excited to take this challenge, but we also wanted to give from the heart to those in need,” said Feidler. “It saddened me knowing how many people need help. It felt really nice knowing we were able to help that day and provide people with lunches.”

“City Electric Supply was challenged on Instagram by one of the branch’s customers, Tayco Electric and Solar.  The City Electric Supply Waxhaw branch jumped at the opportunity and quickly got to work. “My team never shies away from an opportunity to help out in the community,” said Branch Manager Shawn Odom.  City Electric Supply Waxhaw contacted one of their favorite local food joints, Mary O’Neils Irish Pub. The team eats there quite often, so it was a no-brainer to ask if they wanted to join them in giving to the center.

City Electric Supply (CES) is a family-owned electrical wholesale distributor headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company was founded in 1951 by Tom Mackie in the United Kingdom and expanded to the United States in 1983. Today, CES employs more than 3,000 people in over 500 branches across the U.S.  CES is dedicated to providing personalized service and support for customers in the residential, commercial, and industrial marketplace. While CES is a large company, it prides itself on keeping its founding principle of empowering people to make local business decisions by providing customers tailored services for all their electric supply needs.

But CES Waxhaw isn’t done supporting their local community.  They are helping build 2020’s Dream Home here in Waxhaw.  They will be providing 100% of the electrical materials “We help just about every year, and because this year’s St. Jude Dream Home is being built right here in Waxhaw, it’s a little bit more special to all of us,” said Branch Manager Shawn Odom.  “Knowing that you helped with a dream home is always humbling. Attending the events, hearing the St. Jude families tell their success stories and how communities like ours are truly making a difference in their lives — it’s always a special moment that reminds you why you help every single year.” St. Jude Dream Home tickets are $100 each and they are working to raise $2 million this year to support St Jude’s.
