The Cuthbertson High School Lady Cavs have defeated the Freedom Patriots to earn a spot in the 2019 NCHSAA 3A basketball state championship game this Saturday March 16 at 5:00 pm at the Dean E. Smith Center on the campus of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The Lady Cavs, led by sophomore Maddie Dillinger (19 points, 9 rebounds), allowed only 37 points in the close victory over Freedom High School on Saturday night. The Patriots averaged 85 points per game this season but a solid defensive effort by the Lady Cavs allowed only 28% of the Freedom High’s shots to fall, making the difference in an otherwise tight game and leading the Lady Cavs to a 41-37 win.
This victory advances the Lady Cavs to 29-3 on the season. They will face the Southeast Guilford Falcons (27-3) for the state title this Saturday, March 16.
