Football Star Sam Howell selected to Class 3A All-State baseball team

Sun Valley High School Spartans super athlete Sam Howell was recently selected to the NCBCA 2018 Class 3A All-State baseball team.  The rising senior not only had an outstanding junior season on the gridiron, he enjoyed an excellent season on the baseball diamond.

The class of 2019 highly recruited athlete has accounted for 10,175 yards, 109 touchdowns, with only 33 interceptions in his three seasons at Sun Valley.  In the 2017 football season for the Spartans Howell added 1,594 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.  He accounted for over 4000 total yards with 60 touchdowns as a junior.



While during the 2018 baseball season this past Spring in 27 games he batted .414, 36 hits, 10 doubles, 2 home runs, 31 RBI’s with a .447 OBP, .597 SLG, 1.045 OPS, including a .956 fielding percentage.   He also pitched 48 innings accumulating a 6-0 record, with an ERA 0.73, 57 strike outs, 16 walks, with an OBA .163, OBP .277 earning him a coveted spot on the All-State team.

The 6’2″, 225 pound quarterback committed to Florida State on 4/09/2018.  He competed in the Dabo Swinney’s camp to showcase his football skills and athletic ability.  He is ranked with ESPN number 120 overall nationwide, and number 6 in quarterbacks across the entire country.  Other rankings have him as the number 103 overall, and either number 4 or 5 nationally as a quarterback.  He was rated the Number 5 Pro-Style quarterback in the nation by Rival.com.

Howell, also held offers from Arkansas, Clemson, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and among many more Power 5 university programs.  He is obviously, going to have the opportunity to play football in college on the big stage.  However, he is a complete athlete who is a tremendous talent, therefore, his on the field baseball accomplishments achieved on the diamond should be recognized by all fans who enjoy competitive high school sports.
