JAARS Inc hosted “Night at the Alphabet Museum” on Friday June 15, 2018. This program brings the museum to life with live actors performing stories about famous alphabet makers, translators, pilots, and a former head hunter. Debbie Newby, JAARS Museums Manger/Curator, explains, “These people had an impact on our language, Bible translation around the world, and the founding of JAARS.” She continues, “Ever since I saw the first Night at the Museum movie in 2006, I have wanted to make a museum come alive at night but it wasn’t until I came as Manager of the Museum of the Alphabet that I had the right museum to do it. I wanted the opportunity to tell stories in a fun way that is appealing to those who don’t like to read museum wall signs.“
This will be an ongoing series with the next scheduled dates: August 24, September 14, October 19, 2018 and adding more dates in 2019. Registration is required as space is limited. People may register by calling the Museum of the Alphabet at 704-843-6066 or emailing alphabetmuseum@jaars.org Newby finishes with, “This event is free but donations to JAARS are appreciated. JAARS’ mission is to make Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote and difficult places on earth. The event takes about an hour and is recommended for adults, teens, and children age 8 and up. The museum is handicap accessible. This event will change as we add new stories so people can come back again and again.”
