Garner and his family currently live in South Charlotte themselves. His wife, Sarah, came to the area from Minnesota to play volleyball in college. Now married for more than ten years, he and Sarah have 7-year-old twins, Tyler and Katie. And Garner firmly believes that part of being a member of the community means giving back, personally, and professionally. He is an active member at his church, Weddington United Methodist as well as a Platinum Sponsor at the twins’ school McAlpine Elementary. He also makes time for fun as a member of a local men’s golf association.
Professionally, Certainty Home Loans has a department, Community Connections, that works with branches to help them with community involvement. “With each loan closing the client has the ability to pick a charity of their choice, and I and the company donate $250 to that charity. We have been able to give back to a ton of local charities and donated over $120,000 last year to local charities. This program is one of my favorites that we offer, and it really does make a positive impact in the community.” Garner explains.
“We also support local businesses with our corporate connection program. We offer $500 dollars off closing costs [for employees] of the companies that sign up with us. It is free for them, and all we do is send a flyer out with our services to the employees. Our local companies include CMS Schools, Union County Schools, CMPD, Novant Health, Atrium Health, Charlotte Pipe, Charlotte fire, just to name a few.” Garner has also made donations in the past to the Union County Animal Shelter, American Heart Association, and Mobile Mammogram programs. Certainty Home Loans is also offering $500 off of closing costs to First Responders for a limited time.
While Garner has set up his branch, located at the intersection of 485 and Providence Rd, to be truly local including working with local attorneys for closing and keeping all mortgage processing inside the office, he has also weathered the storm of COVID-19 by providing a secure online server to upload and store documents to comply with the Safer At Home orders. “We are not a large lender, and we strive to give the same service to our clients as we would our family. We know that most people do not enjoy the mortgage process, but we want to make the experience painless. We do that with incredible technology that makes the application process extremely easy. Our digital application allows the client to pull in income and asset information electronically, eliminating paperwork and income data. All of our loan disclosures are done electronically, and the client can securely upload any documents through the WEB Portal, and avoid emailing. We also have in-office processing, and underwriting so we are truly a “Local Lender”. I make myself available to my clients on nights and weekends when they are available. I think this is what sets us apart, and myself apart from the competition.”
