WEDDINGTON, NC – On January 4, 2021, Passionate Paws will open its second location at 2925 Matthews-Weddington Rd, Ste 100, in the Chestnut Arbor Shopping Center. While technically a Matthews’ mailing address, this location is considered to be in Weddington and will allow Passionate Paws the ability to serve more fur babies and pet parents. Dr. Carlie Brue, the primary veterinarian in the new location, specializes in general medicine and integrative medicine, and has a certificate to do chiropractic adjustments for animals.
“The new location is 3,000 sq ft, which is actually slightly smaller than our current location, which is 3,500 sq ft. It feels bigger due to the layout of the office. Very roomy!” explains Stephen Bonilla, Hospital Administrator. There are four exam rooms with one that is specifically for cats only. They also have a full surgery suite, a dental suite complete with digital x-rays, and a digital x-ray room. Passionate Paws Weddington will offer “all services except for grooming, acupuncture, cold laser therapy, and physical therapy (which will be referred to our Waxhaw location),” says Bonilla. “In time, Dr. Brue will also be certified in acupuncture, and we will have cold laser therapy available at the Weddington location. All staff and Dr. Brue are certified Fear Free Professionals, and we are currently working on getting this new location certified as a Fear Free Practice just like our Waxhaw location.”
Dr. Brue attended Ross University to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and Iowa State University for her undergraduate degree. She joined the Passionate Paws team in September 2020 at the Waxhaw location but is very excited to move to the new location. “I have known Dr. Bonilla for a long time, so I was excited to be able to work with such a great colleague, as well as Dr. Izurieta who now works at the Waxhaw location,” says Brue. “Dr. Bonilla is very focused on prevention for pets and maintenance, which I really appreciate being a general practitioner. The team at Passionate Paws is also so friendly and a joy to work with.”
“Dr. Brue is certified in Chiropractic and she will be heading up this location along with current members of our support team,” says Bonilla. “We wanted to open up this second location to continue to provide Fear Free Integrative Care and reach more pet parents that have been wanting to come to us, but we may have been too far.
