Mrs. Mosblech moved with her husband, children, and three Pomeranians to Waxhaw 15 years ago from New York.  She fell in love with Waxhaw the moment she set foot here, knowing that this was where she wanted to raise her family and start her business. Jennifer is following in the footsteps of her mother, who was a hairdresser with a salon in New York that Jennifer grew up in.  Jennifer showed a natural talent for hair cutting and styling at an early age and started working with customers by the time she was eighteen before she even attended beauty school.  Since that point, Jennifer graduated from beauty school, took classes from the renowned Redkin Academy, and has invested $7,000 to $10,000 in advanced education classes and seminars, such as invisible weave extensions, advanced blonding, and vivid reds/brunette color enhancements, to perfect her craft.

Before opening Moss & Black, Mosenblech was employed as a private stylist.  She has extremely high standards for both herself and her staff and aims to give her customers the absolute best when it comes to beauty and self-care. Each stylist that works at Moss & Black is the top in their field, boasting years of schooling and ongoing educational classes.  Mrs. Mosblech requires each stylist to apprentice under her for two years before taking customers on their own, where they learn the finer points of customer relations, style, and the art of cutting hair.

Whether your look is timeless or trendy, Moss & Black has a luxury service for you. Her staff is proficient in current trends like French cutting, which involves softer layers for a youthful and modern look, and has specifically trained staff for African American hair, including braiding and crochet braiding techniques, and a keratin anti-frizz treatment that lasts for nine months, with no harsh chemicals–it is even safe for children too.  They have indulgent options for color melting and toning, dimensional reds and brunettes, Balayage, Foilayage, Ombre, and even gray coloring for those that want to grow out their natural grays with vibrancy and shine.  Moss & Black also offers glossing shine, keratin treatment, and men’s haircuts as well. 

In their aim to be your one-stop beauty destination, Moss & Black offers decadent spa options as well.  They offer luxury manicures and pedicures, including a jelly pedicure.  The jelly pedicure is unique to the salon and involves bathing the feet in warm gel and essential oils that magically turn back to regular water at the end of the pedicure. The all-natural scrubs are salon-made with scents like brown sugar vanilla, pumpkin, cranberry, and a new citrus experience being made just in time for spring. All scrubs and manicure and pedicure essentials are sterilized and individually packaged for safety. They offer decadent facials performed by an award-winning facial technician, Alona Schimonov, microblading, lash extensions, tinting, and lash lifts by the brow and lash expert Omesha Torres, and total body waxing by waxing specialist Casey Leigh.  Moss & Black also holds Botox and Filler events once per month with Dr. Jennifer Bizuneh.
