WAXHAW, NC – Emma Weeks is a dynamic, full-time stylist at the opulent Moss & Black Salon and Spa in Waxhaw. Ms. Weeks was born and raised in Waxhaw, as was her mother, who is also a hairstylist. Emma is certified in smoothing treatments, blonding, and is a vivid hair color enthusiast, as evidenced by her striking teal and purple hair. She is also talented with personalized hair cuts for men, women, and children, custom blow-drying, and working with extensions.
Ms. Weeks attended the Walter Bicket Cosmetology Academy while still in high school. She graduated both high school and beauty school, and one month later, attained her state board license, a very impressive feat at only 18 years of age. She began work immediately at a franchise establishment and learned the Tigi hair color line. She has completed advanced classes such as the Schwarzkopf hair color class and the Goldwell hair color class as well. At Moss & Black, she continues to hone her craft with further professional classes and workshops on color, cut, and style.
Emma Weeks is an expert stylist with blonding, highlights, balayage, and foliage. She loves to help customers express their own unique style with the various shades of blonde that you can achieve. Ms. Weeks also encourages clients of all ages to try adding a pop of vivid color to their hairstyle by trying a subtle look such as peek-a-boo highlights. Ms. Weeks remarked that color is fun at any age and that you’re never too old to express yourself!
Ms. Weeks establishes a special connection with her customers with her friendly manner and upbeat personality. She fondly remembers one client, a woman whose health problems were causing her to lose her hair. Ms. Weeks took the time to welcome the woman into a private area so that she could remove her wig without any embarrassment. She washed, cut, and colored the woman’s remaining hair and stayed with her through each treatment, listening as the woman described her ordeals and comforting her as they spoke. When the woman left, she was so excited at how beautifully the hair color matched her hairpiece. It looked natural and vibrant, and she could not wait to get home to show her husband. Emma’s empathy and compassion fits right in with the warm and welcoming vibe of Moss & Black Salon and Spa.
Emma Weeks would like to share a tip for those interested in coloring their hair. For longer-lasting color, wait 2-3 days to shampoo. This will give the hair color a better chance to maintain its vibrancy. She also recommends that you do not wash your hair before you have it colored. Most hair dyes are designed to work better on hair that is not freshly washed. While you should skip the shampoo and conditioner the day of coloring, feel free to wash your hair the night before. If you take a chance on vivid colors, Ms. Weeks recommends rinsing with cool water when shampooing.
Emma Weeks loves her job at Moss & Black Salon and Spa. “The other stylists and I all went to school together; it’s like working with your best friends every day,” she remarked. She also loves the family vibe at Moss & Black. Everyone is so thoughtful and considerate and the customers are remarkable individuals with their own sense of style and their own stories to tell.
