There is no better time of year to be a Waxhaw resident than when the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market opens for the season.
You can see the town become more vibrant each year when the market opens as fantastic local produce begins to flow in bringing joy and boosting the health and well-being of Waxhaw residents and customers from across the county.

The season’s opening this year brought out the best in Waxhaw as smiling faces bustled around the market sampling delicious food and great artisan products from local companies like Belgian Waffles on Wheels, SplenDishes Kitchen and the Bare Market while listening to a powerful musical performance by singer, songwriter and guitarist Timothy Manuel whose chilling renditions of classic songs were legitimately stunning.

While food and entertainment can certainly draw a crowd, the real star of the show was, of course, the produce. Everyone knows that it’s a good idea to take your produce home to wash, but after a long winter of store bought vegetables and bland, colorless food, few at the market could be bothered to wait and who can blame them with produce like this?

Hopefully now that the winter is over and spring is in full force, we can be patient enough to eat our produce at home but, if not, at least you know that you are supporting the hard work of your local farmers with each purchase made at the Waxhaw Farmer’s Market.
Here’s to a great season of fresh produce and healthy eating. The Waxhaw Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 9:00 am 12:00 noon. Visit waxhawfarmersmarket.org for more info or stop by and try it out for yourself.
