WAXHAW, NC – Are you ready to get out and see what the latest offerings are from our favorite local restaurants?  Well, on Thursday, May 12 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, you will be able to taste what Waxhaw has to offer!  Each participating restaurant will have samples available for tokens ($1 per token), and tasters will be able to vote for their favorite in ten different categories.  The winner of each category will win an award and $500 while tasters will win a delicious evening with live music from Union Jazz.

In the past, Taste of Waxhaw happened at the same time as Kaleidoscope Fest (May 14 – 15, 2022), but this year they moved it up so to become it’s own event.  “We are excited to celebrate the best of Waxhaw,” says Mary Wallace, Events Manager. “We know our restaurants have some of the best food in the Charlotte area, and this event will demonstrate that!”

This is also an opportunity for Waxhaw to unveil its new Social District.  Ashley Nowell, Downtown Director, shares, “This allows attendees to purchase beverages in a bar or restaurant within the district and enjoy the beverage within the event boundaries. Drinks must be purchased and consumed in the district and disposed of before leaving the district.”

The participating restaurants will compete for “Best Of” awards through an easy-to-use text program.  Categories include Best Overall, Best Gluten-Free, Friendliest Staff, Best Appetizer, Best Presentation, Best Dessert, Best International Flair, Most Creative, Best Vegetarian, and Best Southern Dish.
