This Week’s Tri-W Sports Highlights

WAXHAW, NC – Soccer and lacrosse playoffs are here, with Tri-W teams highly seeded in each of the tournaments. Conference football continues on, with Weddington at the top of the standings at 2-0. Marvin Ridge and Cuthbertson are not far behind with records of 2-1. Here is a look at playoff matchups and the week in football. 

Weddington and Marvin Ridge are playoff-bound in men’s soccer and men’s lacrosse. The Warriors are the first-place seed for the women’s lacrosse playoff tournament, with a 13-1 record. Weddington will face 16-seed Panther Creek for their first playoff contest. The Warriors hold the 10-seed for the men’s lacrosse tournament, while Marvin Ridge holds the 5-seed. The men’s teams for Weddington and Marvin Ridge hold records of 7-5 and 10-3 respectively. Weddington will face 7-seed Bishop McGuinness for week one of tournament play. Marvin Ridge will face 12-seed Patton. 



First round soccer matchups will include 3-seed Weddington (11-1-1) facing off against 14-seed North Iredell (6-2-3). Marvin Ridge (10-1-2), holding the 9-seed, will face 8-seed T.C. Roberson (12-1-1).

Week three of Southern Carolina Conference football saw Marvin Ridge with a 24-8 home field win over Parkwood. Cuthbertson took their first loss of the season to the Monroe Redhawks 39-27. Sun Valley fell 51-7 at Charlotte Catholic. Weddington has yet to report a final score from their game against Piedmont.
