WAXHAW, NC – Golf, tennis, softball, and women’s soccer are moving ahead, as the regular football season comes to an end. Weddington leads the Southern Carolina Conference in football at 5-0, with Marvin Ridge close behind at 4-1. Baseball, track, women’s tennis, and wrestling will hold their first contests on April 26. Read on for a look at Friday night’s end-of-season football games, and to see what’s ahead in spring sports.

Weddington football is set for an attempt at a perfect regular season with Friday’s matchup at Cuthbertson. The Cavaliers are 2-2 on the year, losing their last two games in close contests against Marvin Ridge and Monroe. 



Marvin Ridge, at second place in the SCC, will face 3-1 Charlotte Catholic for their last regular-season game. The Mavericks hope to continue their three-game winning streak, attempting to end their season at 5-1.

Parkwood’s football team will attempt to bring home their third win of the season on Friday in an away game against the 4-2 Monroe Redhawks. Monroe enters Friday’s contest off of a major loss to Weddington. Parkwood won their last game against Cuthbertson 17-14.

As the midway point of the softball season arrives, Marvin Ridge leads the SCC for Tri-W teams. The Mavericks are 5-1 on the season so far, bested only by the undefeated Piedmont Panthers. Marvin Ridge will continue their play next week against Monroe, Piedmont, and Weddington.

Parkwood’s softball team follows closely behind at 4-2, taking their only losses from Piedmont and Sun Valley. The Wolfpack will play Sun Valley, Weddington, and Piedmont next week.

Sun Valley softball is 3-3 on the year, following a 12-0 loss against Weddington. They will continue their season next week against Parkwood, Monroe, and Charlotte Catholic.

Weddington and Cuthbertson both sit at two wins on the year. The two teams faced off last week, resulting in a 3-2 win for Cuthbertson. They will meet again in the final game of the regular season.

Baseball is set to hold its first contests on April 26, featuring exciting conference play in week one. Weddington will open the season in a double-header against Cuthbertson, followed by double-headers against Parkwood and Sun Valley.

Marvin Ridge is scheduled to open their baseball season on April 30, with a double-header against Charlotte Catholic, followed by three games against the Monroe Redhawks. 

The Mavericks currently lead the SCC, for Tri-W teams, in women’s soccer. At 5-2, Marvin Ridge is only outranked by undefeated Charlotte Catholic. The team’s only losses have come against Charlotte Catholic and Piedmont.

Weddington women’s soccer follows closely behind the Mavericks at 4-2. The Warriors’ last contest against the Mavericks resulted in a 1-0 win for Marvin Ridge.

Cuthbertson soccer is tied with Weddington for third place in the SCC, with a record of 4-2. The Cavaliers currently hold a three-win streak, defeating Piedmont, Monroe, and Parkwood since their loss to Marvin Ridge in week two.

Sun Valley and Parkwood fill out the rest of the women’s soccer conference,  with records of 3-4 and 2-5, respectively. The two teams will meet up next week for a game at Parkwood. Parkwood and Sun Valley met first during week one, resulting in a 5-2 win for the Spartans.
