WAXHAW, NC – Football playoffs continue on, with a strong performance from Weddington in round one. Men’s tennis competition is heating up as conference tournaments begin at the end of the month. Read on for updates on teams in the Tri-W area. 

The Weddington Warriors have left the Asheville Cougars scoreless in round one of the NCHSAA 2020-2021 3AA Football Championships. Their 42-0 win against the Cougars will place the Warriors against the undefeated Mount Tabor Spartans for round two. The Spartans defeated Alexander Central in round one by a score of 36-7.



Marvin Ridge men’s tennis remains undefeated after two blowout wins over Piedmont. The Mavericks have won their last seven matches 9-0. They will continue their season against Ardrey Kell, Parkwood, and Weddington this week. Marvin Ridge softball is 7-2, following a 9-3 win over Weddington. They will continue conference play this week against Cuthbertson, Parkwood, and Sun Valley.

Softball at Cuthbertson has improved their record to a positive 5-4, following two major conference wins. On the heels of a 10-3 victory over Charlotte Catholic, the Cavaliers hosted the Monroe Redhawks at home for a 19-0 win.
