
Conference play is heating up and rivalries are emerging as football teams enter week seven of the 2019 season. Tri-W schools are dominating across several different platforms, especially in football, tennis and volleyball. Here is a look at a few of this week’s most impressive wins from the Tri-W area.
Marvin Ridge
The Marvin Ridge varsity football team is 3-3 on the season after defeating Monroe at home 34-14 on Friday. The volleyball team brought their record to an impressive 20-2 after earning two 3-0 wins over Cuthbertson and Piedmont. The Mavericks’ varsity tennis team is 12-5 on the year after their 9-0 victory over Sun Valley on Wednesday.

Cuthbertson
Cuthbertson football is 4-2 on the season after Friday’s 35-7 win against Piedmont. Cavalier volleyball is 9-9 on the heels of a 3-2 win at Charlotte Catholic on Tuesday. Cuthbertson’s varsity tennis team is 8-6 after 9-0 wins over Parkwood and Monroe this week.

Weddington
Weddington’s varsity football team is 6-0 after a 45-0 win over Charlotte Catholic on Friday. The Men’s soccer team has moved to 4-5-2 on the season after a 3-0 win at home against Cuthbertson. The Varsity volleyball team at Weddington advances to 13-5 with a 3-0 win over Monroe, and a 3-1 victory over Sun Valley. Weddington’s varsity tennis team is 16-2 on the year after 9-0 wins at Parkwood and Piedmont. The team won 5-4 at Cuthbertson on Thursday.

Parkwood
The Rebels’ varsity football team is 5-1 on the season after a 40-6 win in Friday’s conference matchup against Sun Valley. Parkwood’s varsity tennis team earned a 9-0 win against Monroe on Thursday, advancing their record to 4-13.

Sun Valley
The Spartans’ varsity volleyball team has moved to 16-2 after earning four wins this week. Sun Valley beat Parkwood 3-0 on Wednesday. The Spartans won over Gilbert, Lugoff-Elgin and Thomas Sumter in tournament play this weekend, all by scores of 2-0. The tennis team is 7-10 after beating Piedmont 6-3 in a conference matchup Wednesday.
