The Town of Waxhaw joined thousands across the nation as they honored our nation’s heroes by laying wreaths at cemeteries around the world for National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 17, 2022.
Wreaths Across America honors those whose commitment to preserving our freedoms far surpassed their own desire to enjoy it. Wreaths are placed by gravestones on this day acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice each soldier has made. The Town of Waxhaw participates each year by conducting a ceremony and placing wreaths on the gravestones of nearly 200 veterans in the Southside Cemetery.
Joining the mission to remember, honor and teach about the sacrifices of our veterans and express our appreciation during the holiday season, Mayor Pappas and Major General Jeff Jones opened the event with a few words, followed by the laying of the wreaths by volunteers at the Waxhaw Southside Cemetery located on Arbor Dr.
Additional photos of the event can be found on the Town of Waxhaw Facebook page.
