An application for a Temporary Use Permit was submitted for a fundraising event to be held at Hunter Farm (13624 Providence Road) on Saturday, August 1.  Hunter Farm is zoned R-CD and is approximately 47 acres with an existing agricultural use.  The permit is in compliance with the Weddington Zoning Ordinance and was approved unanimously.  The board agreed that this event would not materially endanger the public health, welfare, and safety.

An investor sought minor subdivision approval for a property located at 3004 Ashford Glen Drive.  A total of 1.99 acres and zoned R40 residential, the subdivision is in general conformity with the Town of Weddington Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances.  This subdivision request was approved unanimously.

The board also reviewed an application for an entry monument and gate in the Walden at Providence Subdivision.  The Code of Ordinances does not require entry, perimeter walls, and entry monuments to be of any specific height or style.  Nevertheless, the planning board is required to meet for approval before construction takes place.  The town will make sure that the system for the gate has a manual override code which will be given to EMS in case of an emergency.  The gate’s stone-veneered columns will be approximately 10.7’ tall, the highest point being about 9.4’.  The entrance has a turn-around area, which will remain, and the gate’s location allows for up to three cars to be stacked.  The board approved the application for the gate unanimously.
