Schools in the Tri-W area made impressive showings in each fall sport this week and football fans finally got to witness their teams in action, despite county-wide rain outs on Friday night. All but a few games were quickly rescheduled to Saturday night, because who wants to go back to school without football? Here is a look at some of the significant wins in the Tri-W area this past week.

Cuthbertson

Coach Trey Kavanaugh, in his first game as head coach for the Cuthbertson football team, put all doubts to rest this week with a decisive 34-20 victory over South Iredell. Cavalier football will resume on Friday, August 30, at home, against Metrolina Christian Academy. The Cuthbertson women’s volleyball team earned a third place finish in the McMichael High School Invitational Tournament, and women’s golf earned a third place finish in SCC tournament play at the Monroe Country Club.
