With conference contests beginning in just two weeks, teams are racking up as many wins as possible in attempts to advance in the Southern Carolina 4A standings. Weddington football is tied for first place in the Southern Carolina 4A Conference after three weeks of undefeated non-conference play. The Warriors’ most recent game, at home against West Forsyth, ended in a 19-7 victory over the Titans following a scoreless first half. The Warriors will continue non-conference play in an away game against Ardrey Kell on Friday, Sept.10. Marvin Ridge suffered their first loss of the season this week to Ardrey Kell in a home game ending with a score of 26-7. The Mavericks hold second place in the conference with a record of 2-1. They will pick up on Friday in an away game against the Parkwood Wolf Pack. Cuthbertson is tied with Piedmont for third place in the conference with a record of 1-2. The Cavaliers have suffered two losses in a row. Cuthbertson fell to Charlotte Christian on Friday 20-17.
The Cuthbertson men’s soccer team has maintained a positive record despite a 3-2 loss in their most recent game against Butler. With two wins, one loss, and one tie, the Cavaliers are tied for fourth place in the Southern Carolina 4A Conference. Weddington leads the conference for soccer as well, undefeated at 4-0. The Warriors’ most recent win came at West Cabarrus by a score of 3-1. Ardrey Kell is next up for Weddington on Sept. 7. The Sun Valley Spartans have earned four wins on the season as well, for a record of 4-2. The Spartans maintain third place in the conference after playing two more games than the rest of their conference competition. They lost their most recent match against East Meck 2-0. Sun Valley continues non-conference play this week with games against Concord and A.L. Brown.
