As part of Union County Public Schools’ (UCPS) focus on preparing students to be college and career ready, Technology Family Nights and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Information Sessions will be held at four high schools throughout the month of October. This marks the first time UCPS has offered districtwide technology nights and FAFSA sessions for families.

The Technology Family Nights are part of the school district’s EmpowerED initiative, which focuses on empowering students, teachers and community members through digital learning, powerful instructional approaches, collaboration and technology nights for parents. The sessions will help UCPS parents find ways to partner with their child in their learning by providing more information about digital resources available to students, including Brain Pop, DreamBox, myON and more.

·myOn is  a personalized literacy environment for kindergarten through 5th grade students.

·DreamBox Learning Math is an online K-8 math program that is designed to complement math instruction.

·BrainPOP is a resource that has engaging learning games, animated videos and activities that support curriculum.

FAFSA representatives will also be on hand at the technology nights, providing students with an opportunity to learn more about the application, deadlines and options for financial aid. Students can begin their applications onsite with the help of a FAFSA representative.

All sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held on the following dates:

  • Oct. 9 – Porter Ridge High
  • Oct. 12 – Monroe High
  • Oct. 16 – Cuthbertson High
  • Oct. 19 – Forest Hills High
