Despite a 7-4 third game loss, the Cuthbertson Varsity Baseball Team has won a conference series against the Piedmont Panthers.

The first game of the series was secured through the pitching efforts of junior Cade Kuehler who pitched six strikeouts in three innings, allowing only one run. Kuehler also bolstered the cavaliers’ offense with a double and three runs batted in on the night.

Seniors Ethan Haislip and Aly Dawood added hits for Cuthbertson alongside junior Jackson Melton who added two hits and two runs on the night to help get the 10-2 win for the Cavaliers.

Game two was decided by a strong day at bat for the Cavaliers. Junior second baseman Jackson Melton continued his batting performance in game two, adding three doubles for the Cavaliers. Senior outfielder Trevor Grant followed suit with three doubles of his own. Sophomore John Newton added a double and a home run that helped put the Cavaliers out ahead and out of reach.

The Cavaliers were aided, also, in their series deciding 13-4 win by 13 strikeouts pitched by junior Noah Weston.
Piedmont won the third game of the conference series 7-4 with the help of pitching by senior Colby Lamm and sophomore Blake Smith.

Cuthbertson begins the week with a 8-4 record. They will face the 6-7 Independence Patriots this week in a non-conference match-up.
The Panthers move to 4-8 on the year. They will face the 6-7 Parkwood Rebels in a conference series beginning this week.
