
On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, the Waxhaw Board of Commissioners conducted a regularly scheduled business meeting.
The regular meeting began with the recognition of the newly hired employees:
• Tamia Underdue-Wells, Digital Marketing Specialist
• James Kelly, Traffic-Transportation Project Engineer
North Carolina Main Street Award Winners:
• Mark Hernig & Team – Best Adaptive Reuse Project on Waxhaw’s Livery Stables.
• Kate Stahlman – Waxhaw’s Downtown Champion.
Police Chief Gregg Collins introduced and spotlighted Officer KC Jennings. Officer Jennings just received his law enforcement certification and is the department’s first officer that also served as a Waxhaw Police Department Explorer.
The Board of Commissioners approved the following:
• BOC Meeting Minutes from Feb. 13 & 28 and March 14.
• Waxhaw Parkway Dedication.
• Budget Amendment Request.
• Voluntary Annexation Petition 18-232 for the Walter Pfister Property.
• Preliminary Subdivision Plat: SUB-014285-2022 Seven Hills.
• Adopted Resolution (RES2023010) to Dissolve the Main Street Advisory Board.
• Appointed the Slate of Candidates to serve on the Downtown Waxhaw Association, Inc. Board.
• Appointed Commissioner Simpson and Commissioner Wesolek to serve as Board Liaisons to the Downtown Waxhaw Association, Inc. Board.
• Authorized the Town Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Downtown Waxhaw Association, Inc.
• Authorized staff to file IRS Form 1023-EZ for Downtown Waxhaw Association, Inc.’s 501c3 designation.
• Ordinance First Reading
– Proposed Ordinance (ORD2023013) to Establish a new Sidewalk Dining for Downtown Waxhaw.
• Town Manager Jeff Wells announced that Shred Day was canceled due to high winds and rain and would be rescheduled to Saturday, June 24. He also provided a Town Campus update.
