WAXHAW, NC – Car enthusiasts were out in full force on Sunday for one of Waxhaw’s favorite events, the Waxhaw Coffee Cruisers’ monthly meet. With everything from classic Corvettes to modern Lamborghinis on display, the crowd was as enthusiastic as ever to witness some of the town’s meanest machines.

As the event rolled on, showgoers gathered for the results of the free raffle-ticket giveaway, featuring great prizes from local sponsors. The prizes included tools, gift certificates, and more, culminating with the grand prize: an autographed Richard Petty model car.

Waxhaw Coffee Cruisers founding member CJ Dietzman said that the group, founded in 2019, began as a way for local folks to enjoy their cars and do something fun in the community.

“We started with five people at our first meet,” Dietzman said, “then it grew to 10, 15, 20, 30 members. Now we have over 2,200 people in the group.”

Dietzman said that the group is dedicated to supporting local charities and community organizations. He said that their sponsors, who feature booths at each monthly meet, make that dedication possible.

People can bring any car that they wish, Dietzman said.  “There’s no hierarchy or anything like that,” Dietzman said.  “It’s really about fun, and it’s about people. It’s about having a good time, and it’s about the community.”

“Outside of our monthly meets,” Dietzman said, “ there is something going on pretty much every weekend in the Waxhaw-area extended automotive community. We have a lot of friends and partner groups that we work with to do cruises, fundraisers, car meets, dinners, and all kinds of fun stuff, all with a lens towards supporting the community and having a good time.”

“Once the automotive hobby gets in your blood,” Dietzman said, “it’s never coming out.”
