WAXHAW, NC – Throughout the last several weeks of isolation, one Waxhaw group has made a special effort to raise spirits, and maintain a sense of community, in the Tri-W area.
The most recent event was a two-part cruise, on Saturday, spanning from Cuthbertson High School to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
One local group, Waxhaw Coffee Cruisers, has participated in several cruises in recent weeks and lifted the mood of all who encounter their exciting parades.

Beginning at Cuthbertson, the first leg of the cruise featured a parade through Champion Forest to honor Cuthbertson High School seniors, whose graduation ceremonies have been affected by COVID-19. Carolina Cruise4Kids and Nomads of the Carolinas organized the second leg of the cruise at Levine Children’s Hospital.
The first part of the cruise that was organized by Donna Kennelly (WORN- Waxhaw Off Road Network) along with Carolina Cruise4Kids brought smiles to the faces of the many graduates living in Champion Forest.

Kennelly said that the idea behind the cruise was to show appreciation to the graduates and to wish them the best during these unprecedented circumstances. She said that the cruise was a great opportunity for students to get out and be together.

The second half of the cruise, at Levine Children’s Hospital, saw many healthcare workers cheering from the sidewalks, as children waved with excitement from their windows overlooking the parade.
