WAXHAW, NC – On Tuesday, November 10, the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) promoted Michael Ferreira to Captain. Waxhaw VFD Fire Chief Greg Sharpe was pleased to pin Captain Ferreira’s badge after talking about what it takes to rise through the ranks at the VFD. Chief Sharpe explained that the Waxhaw VFD does not promote officers based on elections but instead through skill and experience on the team through an outside evaluation.  “He [Ferriera] has been with Waxhaw VFD for eight years and also works full time for the Charlotte Fire Department,” explained Chief Sharpe. “He also heads up our Medical Special Response Team that deploys with the Waxhaw PD SRT.”
