Menorah Lighting
Join Ballantyne Jewish Center for a spectacular evening of fun and culture as they light the Menorah in downtown. The lighting itself will take place at 5 p.m. on December 14 but will be preceded by activities for children starting at 4:30 p.m. at The Old Oak Tree Bandstand. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact Rabbi Yisrael Levin at 704-737-0555 for more info.
Wreaths Across America
Not to be forgotten during this special time of the year where we get to spend time with the lobes we love, Wreaths Across America, aims to remember those who fought and died so we could be with our friends and family during the holidays every year. December 16, the Parkwood JROTC, Composite Squadron of the Waxhaws (Civil Air Patrol), and the Town of Waxhaw will work together in a ceremony to place a commemorative wreath on veterans grave sites across the area. The remembrance ceremony begins at noon, and more details and information can be found on the Waxhaw Town website.
Santa’s Ride Through the Neighborhoods
Last, but certainly not least, Santa and the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department have a fantastic tradition of delighting the children of the area by scheduling the busy toymaker to ride through the Waxhaw neighborhoods and wave to the residents. Young and old alike enjoy the jolly greeting from the bright red fire truck as Santa rolls past many houses. Santa’s route is still top secret, but look for an upcoming announcement to be made on the Waxhaw Town website and the Waxhaw Fire Department website. The drives are held nightly from December 10th-16th, and begin at 6:30 each evening.
